Hi! I am Malcolm, a year 1 undergraduate majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
Before NUS, I studied Mechanical Engineering at Ngee Ann Polytechnic and worked on applications for more efficient heat transfer using Oscillatory Flow Mixing. As my dad shares a hobby of fabrication and machining with me, I have equipment at home such as 3D printers (SLA and FDM), a laser cutter, a lathe and a small CNC mill. I have an interest in Robotics and also have some experience in Python for use in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Some of my personal projects include assembling and operating a norns shield (https://monome.org/docs/norns/shield/), a Raspberry Pi-based open-source portable sound computer that can dynamically run custom scripts and DSPs, and parsing personal Google Maps location data to generate heatmaps about where I’ve been over the last couple years (Sample: https://i.imgur.com/x05Qa5g.jpg).
Apart from Engineering, I’m deeply passionate about music and play the piano. I also dabble in many other smaller hobbies from time to time, such as calligraphy, photography, video editing and gaming. Feel free to hit me up to discuss anything at all – I love to learn about new things!
