I’m Xin Yu a Year 2 undergraduate currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering. I am also a committee member of the E-Scholars Committee.
Having interned at the Cyber Security Labs at Defence Science Organisation (DSO) twice for a total of 10 months, I have a developed a keen interest in Cybersecurity. During my internships, I have worked on a few projects, such as developing a programme to detect rising cyberthreats using texts in the wild, developing a framework that emulates the behaviour of Advanced Persistent Threats, and most recently setting up forensic analysis boxes that are capable of ingesting big data to perform threat hunting. From these projects, I have acquired many valuable skills that can be applied beyond the realms of cybersecurity, such as natural language processing, machine learning, cloud infrastructure development using AWS and big data analysis using the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Beats, Kibana).
I am also the Events Director for OrcaTech, a technology community within Residential College 4 and will oversee organising events to foster the technology community within the college. Being a sophomore, I still have a lot to experience but I will always be ready to learn and develop myself!
