Hello there!

I’m Yan Quan, the current President of the E-Scholars Student Committee. I’m studying Electrical Engineering, specialising in Signal Analytics and Machine Learning, and pursuing a Minor in Management. I’m doing my FYP under Prof Thomas Yeo, using various machine learning methods to perform behavioural prediction from fMRI brain scans.

In my time at RC4, I built my own voice activated light / aircon switch powered by the ESP32 microcontroller, so that I didn’t have to get off my bed to turn off the lights! It was also connected to my phone so I could turn on the aircon 15min before reaching my room 🙂

I’ve been to DSO National Laboratories several times now (under Electronic Systems, Guided Systems and Sensors divisions), and some of the projects I’ve worked on involve synthetic aperture radars (SAR) image formation, photorealistic UAV simulation and more. If you’re looking for an internship at DSO feel free to contact me!

I used to be an active member / performer in several Chinese Orchestras in Singapore, having performed live on 狮城有约 with the Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra (SNYCO) and holding 2 public concerts as Chairperson of the Raffles Alumni Chinese Orchestra (RACO). With a distinction in Dizi Performance (Diploma level), I have also gone on to achieve 2nd and 3rd prizes at the National Chinese Music Competition.

To find out more about me, you may visit my personal website: https://www.yanquan.me/. There are some cheatsheets on there too feel free to use them for your mods where relevant!
